Tiny House Clothing Storage
Our camper is small and as full time RV dwellers, our camper is our home. Living tiny means rethinking the accumulation of things and today, we’ll discuss clothing. So, yea, the world famous shoe collection of Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos is unsuitable for tiny house living!
Our upper cabinets have fixed openings, and we covered those openings with mesh nets.
We try to put the things most often needed in the mesh nets. But the nets cover the openings and it became difficult to pull out a gym bag full of socks, T-shirts, and undergarments. So we took some old USPS “if it fits, it ships” boxes, and gathered the various small clothing items together, putting each type in it’s own clear gallon sized zip lock bag.
With this variation of storage, you can easily see what’s in the clear bag and slither it around the mesh net.
Storage is still a problem. For our next trick, we purchased a Dewalt tool trunk.
This beast is lightweight, has wheels, is water tight, features a retractable handle and measures H 24.3 in, W 23.1 in, D 38.9 in. The trunk is advertised to hold 63 gallons, which is larger than a 55 gallon barrel! In this beast goes all the lightweight things that are not temperature sensitive: the seat and grippy step for
“The Ever Useful 5 Gallon Bucket” , towels, linens, humidity/mister, window screens, weather station head, and so on. We peeled off the Delwalt stickers, lest anyone think this trunk was full of valuable tools.
When we camp, the trunk is excommunicated to the rear of the van (the reason only lightweight stuff is allowed inside) and the trunk is secured with a chain and padlock.
As a bonus, the trunk becomes a comfortable seat.
