Shipping Container Foyer

We had decided to incorporate a foyer in the cabin. So we laid the foyer floor of treated plywood and vinyl flooring planks, built a wall to separate the living area, and installed a window. Next we installed a small air conditioner, hung a door, installed locks, caulked around the door, added a screen door, hung T1-11 siding on the exterior wall and painted it. All of that took some time to finish. We then built and painted a ramp for better access up to the shipping container doors with Rustoleum gray paint. Hanging garden tools on the foyer walls seemed to work out well too.

Note in the picture is a generator. We do not run the generator as it is in the picture, but instead, we roll it down the ramp and about 10 feet away from the container. Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, colorless and tasteless killer. We also have two smoke and CO2 detectors inside the shipping container tiny house; with a generator running and a wood burning stove, you can’t be too careful. Many people wake up dead from CO2 (bad pun, but you get the point).
