Kitchen, Wood Stove

For the kitchen, we chose to use a 48″ long, 18″ wide chrome shelf with a stainless steel counter top. A hole was cut for a small one bowl sink. Casters made the shelf mobile.

In the image below, you see the shelf unit inside the tiny house – sorry we didn’t get one of the shelf in the shipping container. Also, in the picture, the microwave is sitting over the sink.

The shipping container with its metal walls was conducive to hanging things with magnets anywhere which was a bonus. Two and one half gallon plastic water jugs with on/off spouts were situated on the shelf above the sink to have gravity fed running water and a five gallon plastic bucket was placed under the sink drain pipe to catch gray water. Water could easily be heated on the Rancher wood stove.

The wood box houses a two burner propane stove. You can see the solar cooker lower left.

This is all temporary until the cabin kitchen is fully built.
